Purpose & Format of Meetings:

The Vice-Provost for Research Dr. Mark Redfern and the University of Pittsburgh Data Management Committee are seeking in-person and candid input from faculty and staff on their views and experiences related to their research data management requirements and practices. These in-person meetings are designed to complement the data management survey that the Committee released on April 14. The information conveyed during these meetings will be used by the Committee to inform a strategic options report, which will be submitted to the Provost.

During these meetings we would like to discuss with you:

  1. How do you collect / create / find / use research data?
  2. What services / tools could help you to collect / create / find data?
  3. What are your data storage requirements?
  4. What are your challenges in analysing / visualising your data?
  5. How do you prepare your data for release / archiving? What could help with this?
  6. Where do you deposit your data in a repository to enable re-use? What are your concerns with sharing your data?
  7. Are there any disciplinary data practices and norms?
  8. How can CSSD / ULS / HSLS help you in your research data management?
  9. What RDM training / education would be helpful for your research students?
  10. Is there anything else you would like to raise / any other research data management concerns?
